It’s been a year since WKAFTL went on hiatus. Last Thursday, we reunited for one night, because our drummer Joon was moving to Hong Kong. It was a surprise gig for Joon, which is why we didn’t post here or tell anybody hehehe.

THE PURPLECHICKENS LAUNCH ANIMATED MUSIC VIDEO

Indie rock band The Purplechickens will launch the music video for their single, “Dream Systems,” on July 14, 2006 at Gweilos Eastwood. Directed by Luna Cruz and created by the Artist Society, “Dream Systems” tells the story of a man and a woman living oblivious on separate sides of a small planet, until an accidental stone throw results in their desperate attempt to reach each other. Taking two years to complete, the video uses a combination of live-action, 3d, and traditional painting techniques using the ‘rotoscoping’ method, resulting in a visual feast that also expresses the strong emotions found in the song itself.

The Purplechickens have released two singles from its critically-acclaimed debut album, “Here’s Plan B” — “A Break in A Prayer” (the video of which gained praises from the indie community) and cult favorite “Ars Terror”. Joining the band on that night are Up Dharma Down, Narda and We Kick Ass for the Lord. The event is presented by The Artist Society and Gweilo’s Eastwood.

Show starts at 10pm for the public, with a pre-launch event at 8pm for the press and special guests. Entrance is free.
